pediatric traveling nurse….California

May 9th, 2008 · No Comments

I have been a pediatric traveling nurse for 7 years and i am originally from Georgia.  I have traveled all over the states and been to many facilities but so far California has been my absolute favorite!  The thing I loved most about California was obviously the weather.  I felt so spoiled living there because it was always perfect outside.  Not only is the weather phenomenal but there is always so much to do you are always busy on your days - but in a good way :) . My assignment was at CHOC in Orange County, and the prem staff there was so friendly and accomodating they made me feel like I had been there for years.  Once I finish the assignment I started in Colorado I am shooting back to California for the Summer.

LOVE to be a travel nurse

“I would LOVE to travel to California. I’ve heard it’s one of the best areas to be a travel nurse. I guess it’s because of the great weather and beaches, although because I have so much family there, it would be an especially wonderful experience. My niece lives in Napa, and even though there’s that line in Sex and the City “If you’re tired you take a nap, you don’t go to Napa” she says she’d trade New York City for Napa any day of the week. She describes the views to me and I swear I’m going to love it. I love being a travel nurse, you can actually go to the places you dream about, not just dream about them. Right now I’m picturing myself sitting down to a glass of Dry Rose’ at a winery, taking in the breath taking views after a long shift. Does it get any better than that?”

Travel Nurse dream comes true

May 9th, 2008 · No Comments

I just moved to California from Toledo, Ohio! I am so happy to be away from the cold weather! Living in sunny San Diego has always been a dream of mine and thanks to Access Nurses, my dream has come true!! There is so much to do as a traveling nurse in California. The beaches are beautiful, and the mountains aren’t too far away either. I miss my family a lot, but the best part of my travel assignment is that I can move wherever I want in three months! California is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn’t have picked a better state to complete a travel nursing assignment!

Moving to California

April 29th, 2008 · No Comments

i just moved to california from wyoming…talk about a shock! WOW! i went from a hospital with just 65 beds to one with almost 400!!!!!!!!! i’m freaking out a little bit. its a great facility and i know im going to get lots of experience, but its pretty overwelming right now. the perm staff seems really nice, but the other travelers seem stressed like me. one girl darcy from new mexico was pretty wide eyed like me. nursing has always challenged me, and i think this is just another challenge for me to over come. i like that since this is a travel nurse assignment, i can experience the big city life in california, and if i don’t end up likeing it, i can move on to a hospital thats more what i’m used to. it’s great. as for now, i’m going to try to learn as much as i can…and try to keep up. =)
